30 dec. 2025 – day 1

Lower Manhattan

visited Little Italy, Chinatown & Financial District. so many cool buildings and views to see there

then we got to the top of the One World Trade Center, also saw the 9/11 Ground Zero memorial

Staten Island

we took the free ferry boat to Staten Island to get a little closer to the Statue of Liberty, and then to see Manhattan’s skyline

31 dec. 2025 – day 2

Central Park

we took a walk in Central Park! we saw squirrels, some cool birds, the entrance of Central Park Zoo (it’s the one in the Madagascar movie…) and Balto’s statue <3

5th Avenue & Madison Avenue

just like Sting, we walked down 5th Avenue… was an English woman in New York indeed. Saw the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building and also the Trump Tower yeehaw

Grand Central was cool but not as impressive as I thought it would be tho

Brooklyn Bridge

amazing walk for New Year’s Eve (after we got home to take a huge nap) <3 We crossed the entire bridge and even experienced the only snow of our trip there…

01 jan. 2026 – day 3

Lower East Side

we took a walk on the Williamsburg Bridge (the one the M train we take to get to Manhattan from Brooklyn rides on)

saw the Washington Square Arch in Greenwhich Village (that’s where Sally drops Harry at the beginning of When Harry Met Sally…).

Chelsea

cool lil indoor market with little exhibitions and shops — but so crowded we couldn’t have lunch there… So we ate at an American Dinner in Chelsea instead — they had a TV there, where we could watch Zohran Mamdani becoming mayor of NYC

High Line & Hudson Yards

amazing place, it’s a park/greenway built on an old railway. We had a hard time finding the entrance lol. At this point, it was freezing cold (-9°C) and I couldn’t feel my hands anymore :/

Times Square

amazing place but sooo crowded. It was 01/01, New Year’s Day, so we collected several ‘wishes’ printed on confettis which had been throwed on New Year’s Eve at midnight over the streets.

Top of the Rock

we got to the top of the Rockefeller Center to see NYC from above again —but at night!!

02 jan. 2026 – day 4

Museum of the City of NY

very nice museum, especially loveeeed an immersive film with only shots taken in NYC in different movies, and a space dedicated to documenting different forms of activism in the City.

MOMA

no words. amazing pieces of art. A little crowded because Friday nights are apparently free for New Yorkers, but it was okay :)

03 jan. 2026 – day 5

Brooklyn shoppin

we went to thrift shops in Brooklyn!! got cool Pokémon cards (Snorunt x4), got myself an unspeakably cool Ranch dressing shirt and a pair of Doc Martens for 65$ (wanted one for sooo long).

Long Beach

I initially wanted to go to Montauk, at the end of Long Island (just like in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind…) but it was like a 8h round trip… So I just took the LIRR from Penn Station to Long Beach, and appreciated a solo walk on a totally empty seashore. Felt like the end of the world. 10/10

04 jan. 2026 – day 6

Museum of Moving Image

my favorite museum here!! very interesting permanent collection presenting all jobs in the cinema/TV industry with associated props from real sets ; exhibitions such as the Jim Henson experience (with real Kermit and Miss Piggy there!!), the Mission: Impossible exhibition (now I want to see the movie??) were very cool to see too.

Going home

the end ━☆ﾟ.*･｡ﾟ. we ate Taco Bell together then I took the Airtrain to JFK and got back to Paris under 0° C.

it only started snowing when I arrived and finally I got the flu just when I got back to work lol

extra : the metro !!!

so cool, even though we never could get a MetroCard (they retired it on 31/12…). shiny, loved the signage, 9/10

honeslty food was quite alright, but we made the effort to try and eat a lot of different things…
